CREW SC REGISTERS FOURTH ROAD VICTORY OF 2019


With its 3-1 win over Atlanta United on Saturday, Crew SC registered its fourth road victory of the 2019 regular season. With two road matches remaining, the Crew has now won more matches on the road this season than during the 2018 regular season, and the most regular-season season road matches since 2017 when it won four matches. Additionally, the Black & Gold have scored 17 goals away from home this year, surpassing last year’s tally of 11 goals on the road.


DIAZ SCORES GAME-WINNING GOAL AGAINST ATLANTA UNITED


Luis Diaz scored the game-winning goal in Saturday’s 3-1 road victory over Atlanta United. The midfielder’s strike came in the 60th minute, when he fired a shot from the edge of the box into the far post, defeating Brad Guzan. The goal was Diaz’s second strike of 2019, as he had previously scored a goal in Crew SC’s 3-1 win over FC Cincinnati (August 25). Since joining Crew SC on July 2, 2019, Diaz has made 10 regular-season appearances (six starts) while registering two goals and three assists.


CREW SC UNDEFEATED WHEN DIAZ SCORES OR PROVIDES ASSIST


In 2019, Crew SC is undefeated in matches in which midfielder Luis Diaz scores a goal or provides an assist with a record of 2-0-2. Since joining Crew SC, Diaz has made 10 regular-season appearances, scoring two goals and providing three assists. In addition to his goal against Atlanta United this past Saturday, Diaz scored a goal and provided an assist in Crew SC’s win over FC Cincinnati (August 25) and he registered assists in Crew SC’s road draws against the Chicago Fire (July 17) and New York City FC (August 21). Notably, all of Diaz’s goals and assists have come in road contests.


DIAZ AND AFFUL NAMED TO MLSSOCCER.COM TEAM OF THE WEEK


Midfielder Luis Diaz and defender Harrison Afful were both named to MLSsoccer.com’s Team of the Week for Week 28 follow- ing their performance on Saturday against Atlanta United. Diaz played the entire 90 minutes and had a hand in each of Crew SC’s three goals, including scoring the game-winning goal. Afful also played the entire 90 minutes, registering one shot, creating one goal-scoring chance, making three tackles, making two clearances and making two interceptions. This is the first time that Diaz and Afful have been named to MLSsoccer.com’s Team of the Week in 2019.


ZARDES: HIGHEST SCORING AMERICAN ON THE ROAD IN 2019


In 2019, no other American player in MLS has scored more regular-season goals on the road than forward Gyasi Zardes. Zardes, 28, has scored eight goals on the road this season, including braces against the New England Revolution (March 9) and FC Cincinnati (August 25). Notably, Crew SC's road record in 2019 when Gyasi scores one or more goals is 3-1-2.


ZARDES: CREW SC'S SCORING LEADER


Through 25 regular-season appearances in 2019, Gyasi Zardes has scored 12 goals, more than any other player for Crew SC this season. In 2019, Zardes has recorded two game-winning goals, registered two braces and provided two assists. Remarkably, 2019 is the third season in which Zardes has scored 10 or more goals in regular-season action, having previously achieved this in 2014 (16 goals) and in 2018 (19 goals).


GUZMAN MAKES 50TH REGULAR-SEASON START IN MLS


During Saturday's 3-1 road victory over Atlanta United, midfielder David Guzman made his 50th regular-season start (58th appearance) since joining MLS in 2017. The midfielder played the entire 90 minutes in Saturday's match, registering two shots, making four tackles and winning five duels. Since joining Crew SC on May 6, 2019, Guzman has made 14 regular-season appearances (11 starts) for the Black & Gold.


CREW SC UNDEFEATED WHEN SANTOS PROVIDES AN ASSIST


In 2019, Crew SC is undefeated in matches in which Pedro Santos provides an assist with a record of 4-0-0. The midfielder – who has scored a personal single-season high of 10 goals in League action in 2019 – registered two helpers against FC Cincinnati (August 25) and one assist in matches against the Montreal Impact (July 20), FC Dallas (March 16) and the New England Revolution (March 9). Notably, of Santos’ five assists, three have been game-winning assists.
