POST-MATCH QUOTES | #ORLvCLB - October 21, 2018

Gregg Berhalter - 7.26.18

SPORTING DIRECTOR AND HEAD COACH GREGG BERHALTER

On the positive takeaways from the match against Orlando City SC

I think we were subjected to a difficult environment and a lot of pressure and I think this game will set us up nicely for next week, in terms of the intensity needed to compete in games like this.

On Federico Higuain's free kick goal

I think it was an amazing goal. Federico [Higuain] has that quality to pull off something special. I think overall on corner kicks, I think we could have been more effective, more dangerous and perhaps created more chances from the nine corners.

On refocusing going into next week’s match against Minnesota United

I think analyzing the game, analyzing what we could have done better and prepare. Prepare physically, prepare mentally for a battle. We know it will be a difficult game but the season will be on the line at this stage and we’re looking forward to it.

MIDFIELDER WIL TRAPP

On the positive takeaways from the match against Orlando City SC

Not many to be honest. We still control our destiny, so I guess that’s a positive. But, we’ve got one game that we have to win.

On Federico Higuain’s free kick goal

It was a good finish; we know he has the quality to do that but, we have to be more clinical in front of goal. We have to get more chances for Gyasi [Zardes] and then when we get those chances we have to put them away.

On being more effective on set pieces

Balls were good for the most part, we’ve just got to get to the right spots and try to compete to win them with some urgency.

GOALKEEPER ZACK STEFFEN

On the positive takeaways from the match against Orlando City SC

That’s a good question. It’s tough. We’re in a funk right now and it’s hard to explain. Today, obviously, just wasn’t good enough with the effort and the mentality and the body shape. And that stuff goes a long way.

On good and bad of the defense today

I thought we were pretty compact and I thought the back four and the midfielders did a good job in front to prevent most opportunities. I think the game turned into a transition game and that's always tough when it’s so hot. We’ll go back and we’ll look at the video and we’ll learn. It’s got to be better all over the field, especially if we want to make it to the playoffs.

On keys going into Minnesota game next week

To put an effort out on the field. Wanting to go out there with passion and desire and heart to win a game and to keep your season alive and I don’t think we showed that at all today.
