Meram called up for Iraq, to face Qatar in friendly

Columbus Crew SC today announced that midfielder Justin Meram has earned an international call-up from the Iraq National Team ahead of an international friendly against Qatar. Meram is slated to join the Lions of Mesopotamia for the match, which takes place on Monday, August 8 in Doha.


Meram has earned 17 caps all-time for Iraq, most recently on October 8, 2015 in a qualification match for the 2018 FIFA World Cup against Vietnam. His first appearance for the team came against Kuwait in the 2014 Gulf Cup of Nations on November 14, 2014. He has scored two international goals for the Lions of Mesopotamia.


Of the 28 players currently on the Black & Gold roster, 14 have received a senior National Team call-up throughout their careers (Harrison Afful, Corey Ashe, Conor Casey, Ethan Finlay, Waylon Francis, Ola Kamara, Cedrick Mabwati, Cristian Martinez, Meram, Michael Parkhurst, Rodrigo Saravia, Zack Steffen, Tony Tchani, Wil Trapp).
