CREW SC LOSES 3-1 AGAINST ATLANTA UNITED FC
This past Saturday (June 17), Crew SC traveled to Bobby Dodd Stadium to face Atlanta United FC. Hector Villalba put the hosts ahead in the 16th minute before Federico Higuain leveled for the Black & Gold in the 26th minute, assisted by Ola Kamara and Harrison Afful. Miguel Almiron gave Atlanta a 2-1 lead in the 67th minute before Josef Martinez made it 3-1 in the 88th, giving Atlanta the win. With his goal in the match against Atlanta, Higuain brought his 2017 regular-season goal total to seven, the second- most on the team. The goal also marked Higuain’s 46th career goal for the Black & Gold in regular-season action. Defender Harrison Afful made his 50th start in 51 regular-season appearances for Crew SC.

CREW SC FACES MONTREAL
This weekend’s match marks the 16th all-time regular-season meeting between the two clubs, with the Black & Gold holding a 7-5-3 record against Montreal. This match will be the final of two regular-season meetings between the clubs in 2017. Crew SC has scored seven goals over the past three regular-season contests against the Impact.

On May 13, the Black & Gold traveled to Montreal to take on the Impact at Stade Saputo. Midfielder Justin Meram recorded a hat trick to give Crew SC a 3-2 victory. It was Meram’s first career hat trick and he became the seventh player in Crew SC history to achieve the feat.

With his goal in this past Saturday’s road contest against Atlanta United FC (June 17), Federico Higuain solidified his hold on third place on the list of all-time regular-season goal scorers for the Black & Gold. Since joining Crew SC in 2012, Higuain has registered 46 goals in 139 regular-season appearances (134 starts). The Argentine playmaker is behind only Jeff Cunningham (64 goals) and Brian McBride (62 goals). Through 16 appearances (all starts) in the 2017 MLS regular season, Higuain has scored seven goals and notched five assists.

Midfielder Justin Meram was named to MLSSoccer.com’s Team of the Week following his performance against Atlanta United FC (June 17). This was the fifth time this season that Meram was named to MLSSoccer.com’s Team of the Week. Meram is one of seven Crew SC players to be named to MLSSoccer.com’s Team of the Week in 2017.

Justin Meram is currently in third place in the Audi Player Index standings with a total score of 538. Additionally, Meram is the second highest ranked midfielder in the Audi Player Index. The Audi Player Index tracks and evaluates nearly 90 components and 2,000 player movements for every MLS match to calculate each player’s individual score. At the end of each season, Audi honors the player with the highest Index score with the Audi Player Index Award.
OLA APPROACHING 25TH GOAL FOR CREW SC
Forward Ola Kamara is one goal away from reaching his 25th tally with Crew SC. Since joining the club in February of 2016, he has made 42 regular-season appearances (36 starts), registering 24 goals and four assists over that span. In 2016, Kamara led the team in goals with 16 tallies in 25 regular- season appearances (20 starts). This season, he is tied with Justin Meram for most goals in regular-season action, with eight goals in 17 regular-season appearances (16 starts). If Kamara reaches 25 goals, he will become one of only four players currently on the Crew SC roster to have scored at least 25 goals for the club, joining Federico Higuain (46 goals), Justin Meram (32 goals) and Ethan Finlay (30 goals). Kamara’s goals per 90 minutes ratio since the joining Crew SC in the beginning of the 2016 MLS season is 0.67, the third highest in MLS for players who have scored more than 15 goals in that span.

Currently, forward Ola Kamara and midfielder Justin Meram are tied as co-leading scorers for the Black & Gold in the 2017 MLS regular season, with eight goals each. Kamara has registered eight goals and one assist in 17 appearances (16 starts), while Meram has notched eight goals and six assists in 17 appearances (all starts). Behind Kamara and Meram is midfielder Federico Higuain, who has scored seven goals and provided five assists in 16 appearances (all starts) this season.
BLACK & GOLD BY THE NUMBERS
Through the first 17 matches of the 2017 MLS season, the Black & Gold have scored a total of 25 goals. So far, Crew SC’s 25 goals have come from five different players: Justin Meram (8), Ola Kamara (8), Federico Higuain (7), Ethan Finlay (1) and Niko Hansen (1). Of those 25 goals, 19 have been scored with the right foot, five have been scored with the left foot and one has been a header; 19 of the 25 goals have been scored from inside the box and six of those goals have been scored from outside the box. Three of the goals have come via penalty kick, two against D.C. United (March 18) and one against Toronto FC (May 10).
WIL TRAPP AMONG TOP PASSERS IN MLS
Through 17 matches in the 2017 MLS regular season, Wil Trapp leads the League in successful passes (1,117) according to Opta. The Crew SC Captain is currently in fourth place in touches (1,419) and successful passes in the opponent’s half (533). Additionally, Trapp leads the League in passing accuracy for players who have attempted 500 or more passes (91.26 %) and is in second place when it comes to attempted passes (1,224).
STEFFEN MAKES 50TH SAVE OF THE 2017 MLS SEASON FOR CREW SC
Steffen made his 50th save of the MLS regular season in this past Saturday’s contest against Atlanta United FC (June 17). Sitting on 49 saves heading into the match, Steffen made four stops against Atlanta United to bring his 2017 regular-season total (and MLS all-time total) to 53 saves. This was the eighth time this season that he made four or more saves in a single match. Previously, Steffen made four saves against Orlando City SC (April 1), the Chicago Fire (April 8), Toronto FC (April 15) and the Montreal Impact (May 13); and he made five saves against the Colorado Rapids (June 3), the New York Red Bulls (April 22) and the New England Revolution (May 6).
HARRISON AFFUL REACHES 50TH REGULAR-SEASON START WITH CREW SC
Afful reached a milestone in Crew SC’s most recent contest against Atlanta United FC (June 17), as he made his 50th regular-season start in 51 appearances for the club. Afful played the entire 90 minutes and provided the helper in Federico Higuain’s goal. The defender joined the club on July 30, 2015 and has registered three goals and six assists in that time. is year, Afful has made 12 regular-season appearances (11 starts) for the Black & Gold, notching one assist.
JOSH WILLIAMS ON THE VERGE OF REACHING MILESTONE START
Williams made his 99th start and 111th appearance in MLS regular-season action in Crew SC’s last match against Atlanta United FC (June 17), and he is now only one start away from reaching 100 MLS starts. The defender played the entire 90 minutes for the Black & Gold against Atlanta United, his sixth start of the season. This season, Williams has made eight regular-season appearances (six starts) for the Black & Gold.
