COLUMBUS – Columbus Crew 2 today announced that it has signed Crew Academy product Zion Scarlett to an MLS NEXT Pro professional contract pending league and federation approval. Contract terms were not disclosed. The forward had previously signed a season-long amateur agreement with Crew 2 for the 2022 MLS NEXT Pro season.
Scarlett played for Crew Academy from 2020-2021, featuring for the Under-19 side. The 18-year-old forward made his professional debut earlier this year, coming in as a substitute in Crew 2’s 2-1 victory over Toronto FC II (April 24). Scarlett joins Aidan Wolf as one of two Crew Academy products on Crew 2’s current roster.
Crew 2 is slated to face New England Revolution II at Gillette Stadium on Sunday, May 8 at 2:00 p.m. ET. The match will be available via free live stream on MLSNEXTPro.com.
