Columbus Crew announces local radio broadcast schedule for 2023 Major League Soccer Season   

COLUMBUS – Columbus Crew today announced details for its regional radio broadcast schedule for the 2023 MLS campaign. Black & Gold matches are again slated to air on partner 97.1 The Fan in English. Spanish-language radio broadcasts will be once again featured on partner La Mega 103.1 FM. The Crew’s 28th season in MLS begins when the Crew travels to face the Philadelphia Union this Saturday, Feb. 25 [7:30 p.m. ET / MLS Season Pass on Apple TV / 97.1 The Fan (English); La Mega 103.1 FM (Spanish)].

Crew fans in the U.S. and Canada watching games via MLS Season Pass, which launched on Feb. 1, will have the option to select the Crew’s radio for broadcast audio on the Apple TV app where available.

Chris Doran returns for his fifth consecutive season as the Crew’s English radio play-by-play voice, bringing more than two decades of MLS broadcast experience to the booth. Doran began his MLS tenure as the Crew’s substitute English radio host in 2000. He has since served as the radio host for Chicago Fire FC (2002-04) and spent more than a decade as a sideline reporter and analyst for Chicago's regional television. Doran returned to Black & Gold regional coverage in 2013, as an analyst and matchday host through the 2016 campaign and rejoined the Crew ahead of the 2019 season. Previously, Doran served as the radio voice of the Indiana University soccer program. Since 2007, Doran has also served as an analyst for the Big Ten Network and play-by-play host for FOX TV's coverage of UEFA and Concacaf championship games.

Doran will additionally keep fans up to date on all things Black & Gold with “Inside the Crew” on Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET on 97.1 The Fan.

Juan Valladares is also set to return to the booth for the Crew’s Spanish-language call, this year returning to La Mega 103.1 FM . Valladares, entering his 15th year with the Black & Gold, originally joined the Crew as a sideline analyst for the 2009 and 2010 seasons. The veteran broadcaster worked in radio from 1994-96, providing coverage of professional soccer before becoming a co-anchor on Channel 25 TV in Honduras from 1995-2002. Valladares was part of Radio America Deportiva coverage from 2002-08, prior to joining the Azteca America broadcast team to work on “Pasion de Futbol” as co-anchor in 2009. He additionally assisted in Concacaf Gold Cup coverage in 2009 and 2010, and FIFA World Cup Qualifiers nationwide from 2010-13.

Following Saturday’s match, the Crew hosts D.C. United for the home opener at Lower.com Field on Saturday, March 4 [7:30 p.m. ET / MLS Season Pass on Apple TV / 97.1 The Fan (English); La Mega 103.1 FM (Spanish)].
