COLUMBUS — Columbus Crew forward Jairo Arrieta has been called into the Costa Rican National Team for a friendly match at Bolivia on November 14, in Santa Cruz.

“I am very happy for the call-up for the game against Bolivia,” Arrieta said. “It is an honor to be called to represent my national team and I hope to receive many more.”

Arrieta has already been capped three times for Costa Rica. He made his senior team debut on Dec. 11, 2011 in a friendly against Cuba. Arrieta was called upon again on Dec. 23 of the same year for a friendly against Venezuela, and then again on March 22, 2012 for a match against Jamaica.

The young Costa Rican also had the honor of representing his country with the U-23 squad at the 2004 Athens Olympics, earning three caps during the tournament.

Arrieta arrived in Columbus mid-season and quickly became a fan favorite as he went on to contribute nine goals and four assists in 18 games played.
