Following the United States’ 1-0 victory over Qatar on Thursday, May 30, Columbus Crew SC Homegrown Player Aboubacar Keita and the rest of the U.S. U-20 squad officially advanced to the Round of 16 of the 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Poland.
The Stars and Stripes placed second overall in Group D with 2-1-0 record (6 pts.) after respective wins over Nigeria and Qatar following a 2-1 loss to Group D winners, Ukraine, on May 24. Notably, Keita started and played the full 90 minutes in all three matches.
Now, the U.S. will face the winner of Group E on Tuesday, June 4 at 11:30 a.m. ET.
Currently, France sits atop Group E with six points (2-0-0) and is slated to play second-place Mali on Friday, May 31 at noon ET.
