U.S. Women’s National Team to face Uzbekistan in international friendly on April 9

COLUMBUS – Columbus Crew and the U.S. Soccer Federation announced that the U.S. Women’s National Team will take on Uzbekistan in an international friendly at Lower.com Field located in Astor Park on Saturday, April 9 at 5:30 p.m. ET. The match will be broadcast live on Fox and the Univision family of networks.

"We are excited to welcome the world champion U.S. Women’s National Team to Lower.com Field in April," said Columbus Crew President & General Manager Tim Bezbatchenko. "We are grateful for the opportunity to host U.S. Soccer for the third time in just six months and showcase the state-of-the-art facilities in Columbus."

This will be the four-time World Cup champion and four-time Olympic gold medalists’ first visit to Lower.com Field and their tenth all-time match played in Columbus. Lower.com Field recently played host to the U.S. Men’s National Team for World Cup qualifiers on October 13, 2021 and January 27, 2022.

Uzbekistan, which gained its independence and became a country in 1991 following the dissolution of the Soviet Union, will be the 55th different country the USA has played as women’s soccer continues to blossom around the globe. Uzbekistan is ranked 45th in the world and seventh in Asia. Uzbekistan played in the Turkish Women’s Cup during the February FIFA window, defeating Lithuania 1-0, falling to Ukraine 2-0 and drawing with Venezuela, 0-0.

Lower.com Field has a capacity for more than 20,000 supporters and includes a 220,000 square-foot canopy that will cover all supporters during the match, providing shelter from weather conditions throughout the season. The Nordecke, the stadium’s supporters’ section, has a 37-degree rake – the steepest in MLS – and has a capacity for 3,364 supporters, making it the second-largest supporters’ section in the League.
