Columbus Crew SC (4-4-1, 13 pts.) fired 11 of its 16 total shots in the second half, including six from inside the 18-yard-box, but ultimately was left searching for the elusive final ball after 90 minutes as D.C. United recorded its first win at MAPFRE Stadium in the last 12 matches with a 1-0 scoreline on Wednesday, April 24.
In a frustrating match for the Black & Gold, Crew SC posted 12 corners, including 10 in the second half, as D.C. United (5-2-2, 17 pts.) rode a first-half free-kick goal from Wayne Rooney in the 27'. From then on, the fellow MLS original, who Columbus will meet in the nation's capital in under two weeks, bunkered down defensively with just over 36-percent possession in the final 45 minutes.
United recorded 53 clearances on the day as Columbus bombarded the box with 32 open-play crosses on the day, including 25 in the second half.
With a complete-game performance,Pedro Santosled the Crew with game-highs in shots (6), chances created (4), and tackles (4), while Zack Steffenfinished the day with five saves. Additionally, both Jonathan Mensah and Wil Trapprecorded two blocks.

With his appearance in tonightās contest, defender Josh Williams recorded his 150th MLS regular-season appearance (132nd start). Williams played the entire 90 minutes, making one tackle, registering 54 touches, attempting 42 passes and led the team with a 95.2 percent passing accuracy in tonightās match. The defender originally played for Crew SC from 2010-2014 before rejoining the Black & Gold prior to the start of the 2017 season. To date, Williams has made 118 regular-season appearances (104 starts) for the Crew, scoring eight goals and recording four assists.
- Midfielder Hector Jimenez registered his 100th MLS regular-season start (153rd appearance) tonight against D.C. United. The midfielder played the entire 90 minutes, having two shots (one on target), registering 95 touches and attempting 68 passes during the contest. Jimenez joined Crew SC prior to the 2014 season after three seasons with the LA Galaxy. To date, he has made 110 appearances and 72 starts while wearing the Black & Gold. Overall, Jimenez has scored five goals and provided 21 assists since joining MLS in 2011.
