The lights shined bright for Crew SC on the international stage over the weekend against Trinidad & Tobago as Gyasi Zardes recorded his second career brace for the United States Men’s National Team while Zack Steffen earned the captain’s band and his second straight shutout in the team's 6-0 win over T&T in the Concacaf Gold Cup.
The USMNT, which has already clinched a spot in the knockout round, closes out group play on Wednesday, June 26 against Panama at 9 p.m. ET at Children’s Mercy Park in Kansas City, Kan. (FS1 & UniMas)
Crew SC’s representatives have certainly given the MNT momentum heading into Wednesday’s match, with Zardes scoring career international goals number nine and 10 while Steffen helped garner the U.S.’s fifth cleansheet of 2019. Notably, Zardes became the 25th player in team history to record double-digit goals, with three of his four this year coming in the Gold Cup.
Wil Trapp, who made the Matchday 18 in both group-stage matches so far, remained an unused sub vs. Trinidad & Tobago after making his 18th career MNT cap vs. Guyana on June 18.
