What to Know for Crew’s Battle at the Death Star against Atlanta United

On Saturday night, Columbus is being temporarily relocated to a galaxy far, far away, as the Columbus Crew and Atlanta United FC will clash at the Battle of the Death Star (Note: Before looking for shuttles to outer space, please note the Battle at the Death Star is still at Lower.com Field).

The Black & Gold are back and the stakes are high as they host an Eastern Conference nemesis and look to remain unbeaten at home.

Here’s what fans should expect before heading to the match – and into battle.

Battle At The Death Star

Prematch Festivities

If you’re thinking about hanging out at the Mos Eisley Cantina – usually known at The Pub – before the match, then get ready for Star Wars trivia, which beings at 6 p.m. Yes, trivia is just for fun, but there is a competition for the best intergalactic name. Rumor has it there’ll be Light Up Ice Cubes for Crewgaritas while supplies last.

Outside on the Community Plaza, you’ll have the opportunity to meet and greet Star Wars characters for photo opportunities and just general conversation. Will you see Jabba The Hut? Unlikely, but rumor has it R2-D2 and Darth Vader might be kicking it with Crew fans.

Supporters will also have the opportunity to create their own fan art, as Star Wars stencils will be on hand for one-of-a-kind posters you can bring into the game (Freehand designs are also encouraged, too).

A DJ will provide the tunes for everyone on the Community Plaza, while fans will also have the opportunities to try a few games like Lower.com Soccer Skee-Ball and the Nationwide Kick & Win.

What Fans Can Bring To Lower.com Field

While all supporters are certainly welcome to dress for the match in traditional Columbus Crew matchday attire, fans are also allowed to dress up in costume for the Battle at the Death Star.

Maybe that means dusting out an old Halloween Costume. Maybe that means ordering one before the game! Regardless, you are welcome to wear a Star Wars-inspired outfit against Atlanta United FC.

What Fans Cannot Bring To Lower.com Field

This match might be called a battle, but that’s just figuratively. We are all about fan safety at Columbus Crew games, so the following items will not be allowed inside Lower.com Field:

  • Lightsabers
  • Blasters
  • Toys or Figurines (like a stuffed Baby Yoda)
  • No props of any kind
