On Monday, U.S. Soccer announced the unveiling of a new documentary video series titled "RISING: Emerging Faces of the U.S. Men's National Team," with focus on an initial group of 11 players including Columbus Crew SC goalkeeper Zack Steffen.
Steffen, a 23-year-old native of Downingtown, Pa., recorded his 50th start and appearance for Crew SC on July 14 and recently earned his third career USMNT cap during the United States' 1-1 draw against eventual World Cup champion France on June 9. Against "Les Bleus", Steffen earned Man of the Match honors after totaling seven saves, including two key stops in the closing seconds.
As part of its coverage, Steffen's "RISING" feature takes fans and followers from the origins of the 'keeper's soccer experience, hearing from family and mentors along the way, to where he is now as he prepares alongside the MNT's up-and-coming generation.
