Crew SC will travel to Quebec for the final stop of its three-game road trip to face off against the Montreal Impact on Saturday at 4 p.m. ET. Columbus looks to claim its first win of the 2016 regular season. Leading up to kickoff at Olympic Stadium, here are three things to know about the Impact.
Seeking Revenge
The Black & Gold are meeting Montreal for the first time since the Eastern Conference semifinals last November. The Impact won Leg One at home 2-1 on November 1, then made their way to MAPFRE Stadium the following week with the hopes of advancing in the Audi 2015 MLS Cup Playoffs. In thrilling fashion, Crew SC striker Kei Kamara scored his second goal of the match in the 111th minute, clinching a 3-1 win and a berth in the Eastern Conference Championship for the Black & Gold. It is no doubt that the last match between the two teams has the Impact seeking a little revenge.
Leading Scorer
Midfielder and DP Ignacio Piatti is Montreal’s leading scorer this season with three goals. Two of those came in week one when the Argentine led his team to a 3-2 road win over the Whitecaps—the first-ever win for the Impact in Vancouver. Piatti’s brace against Vancouver made it his third multi-goal game since joining Montreal in 2014. His third goal this season came in the 71st minute against the New York Red Bulls, helping the Impact shutout the Red Bulls 3-0 at Olympic Stadium. No. 10 will definitely be one to watch out for on Saturday.
Two Consecutive Losses
The Impact are coming off two straight road losses, failing to score in either match. The first came in week three when FC Dallas shutout the visitors 2-0. The Impact created chances, but their inability to execute resulted in spoiling star striker Didier Drogba’s 2016 season debut and its first loss after two straight wins. The drought continued when they faced Seattle on the road last weekend. Montreal outshot the Sounders 13-12 but couldn’t finish, resulting in a 1-0 loss. Expect an Impact squad hungry for a victory on Saturday.
