The two sides last faced off in regular-season action on March 7, 2020 at CenturyLink Field. The Crew opened the scoring in the 33rd minute through forward Gyasi Zardes. Raul Ruidiaz scored a penalty kick goal in the 79th minute for Seattle Sounders FC. In the end, both teams earned a point with a final score of 1-1.
AIR MENSAH: THE DEFENSIVE WALL
Defender Jonathan Mensah leads MLS in headed clearances this season, having made 54 in regular-season action this year. In addition to leading the League in headed clearances, Mensah has made 91 total clearances, tying with Jack Elliott (Philadelphia Union) for second-most clearances in regular-season action in 2021. Mensah has also recorded a League-high 22 blocks this season.
COLUMBUS CREW LEADS LEAGUE IN GOALS SCORED OUTSIDE OF THE 18-YARD BOX
The Black & Gold currently lead Major League Soccer in goals scored outside of the 18-yard box during the regular-season, having scored six goals from that area. Additionally, midfielder Lucas Zelarayan leads the League with five goals scored from the range.
CREW TO HOST YOUTH SOCCER NIGHT PRESENTED BY OHIOHEALTH
Columbus Crew will celebrate youth soccer during Saturday's match against Seattle Sounders FC when the Club hosts Youth Soccer Night Presented by OhioHealth at Lower.com Field. As part of the event, the first 5,000 fans in attendance aged 14 and younger will receive a free Crew mini-ball.
HARPER'S CORNER TO CONDUCT BOOK DRIVE AT MATCH
As part of Youth Soccer Night Presented by OhioHealth, Harper's Corner will be conducting a book drive on the southeast plaza during the Crew's match against Seattle Sounders FC on Saturday at Lower.com Field. The book drive is being done in partnership with the Crew and Cardinal Health. Fans who donate a new or used children's book will receive a complimentary gift at the match.
