RECAP | Molino, Zelarayan score, but late push comes up short vs. D.C. United

Kevin Molino scored his first goal with the Black & Gold while Lucas Zelarayan hammered home a rebound from Molino to bring the Columbus Crew back within one midway through the second half, but D.C. United secured their bag late with an insurance tally and pulled out a 4-2 road victory at Lower.com Field on Wednesday evening.

D.C. United was led by a pair of braces on the night, as Yordy Reyna scored his first career MLS brace ā€” and his first goals of any sort for his current club. Ola Kamara also added a brace of his own to bring his team-leading total to 10 goals and add his name to an increasingly crowded race for the MLS Golden Boot.

Reyna assisted Kamara's first goal in his 12th appearance for D.C. since he was acquired from Vancouver in a trade last season.

Kamara's second came from the penalty spot as a result of the relentless pressure D.C. applied to Columbus throughout the first half before eventually running their modest unbeaten run to four matches.

Kevin Molino and Lucas Zelarayan scored second-half goals for Columbus, which has now conceded four goals in back-to-back games after letting in eight in their previous 10 matches. Molino earned Nationwide Man of the Match honors following his milestone tally.

Zelarayan's sixth goal of the season briefly cut the deficit to a single goal, before Reyna answered with an exceptional curling finish inside the left post after cutting inside from the right flank.

The Crew returns to Lower.com Field on Saturday, August 7 against Atlanta United for a 7:30 p.m. ET kickoff.
