Cincinnati – The 2017 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Fourth Round saw Columbus Crew SC fall to FC Cincinnati by a score of, 1-0, on Wednesday at Nippert Stadium in Cincinnati. A 64th minute header by forward Djiby Fall stood as the lone goal of the match.

Djiby’s goal came on a play that saw a cross by defender Justin Hoyte bounced once into the air before being headed once again by Djiby for the Cincinnati goal.

The attack by Columbus was persistent with 19 shots compared to FCC’s five, but the Black & Gold were unable to find the back of net.

The loss eliminated the Black & Gold from 2017 U.S. Open Cup play.

Columbus will next travel for a June 17 match in Atlanta against MLS-expansion side Atlanta United with a 7 p.m. ET kickoff. Crew SC next plays the Montreal Impact at MAPFRE Stadium on Saturday, June 24 with a 7:30 p.m. ET kickoff. Enjoy half-off select beers (for supporters ages 21-and-over), Pepsi products, brats and pretzels through the 15th minute.

Getting some run

The detour from MLS play saw 2017 debuts for Crew SC goalkeeper Brad Stuver and midfielder Dilly Duka. Stuver started and played all 90 minutes, recording two saves and catching one cross. Duka entered the match as a substitution in the 75th minute and finished with a shot on goal.
