The Black & Gold are back home at MAPFRE Stadium to host the reigning 2016 Major League Soccer champion Seattle Sounders FC, for a 7:30 p.m. ET midweek matchup on Wednesday, May 31. This will be the only meeting between the two clubs and the 12th all-time regular-season meeting between the cross-conference rivals.

Crew SC holds an overall 3-5-3 record against the Sounders, but the Black & Gold's current 4-2-1 record in 2017 at MAPFRE Stadium. The Sounders on the other hand, have not had the best luck this season. The reigning champions have fallen toward the bottom half of the Western Conference and currently hold a 4-5-4 record overall and a 1-4-2 record on the road this season.
The two clubs met once during the 2016 regular season at Century Link Field on April 30, 2016. Despite starting strong and controlling the majority of the game, the Black & Gold suffered a 1-0 loss. The lone goal came in the closing minutes of the match when rookie striker Jordan Morris sprung on a loose ball and found the back of the net for the game-winner in the 88th minute.
Crew SC won the only meeting between the teams two seasons ago, a 3-2 victory on May 9, 2015 — the sides' last meeting at MAPFRE Stadium — which ended a three-game winning streak for the visiting team in the series. It was the Black & Gold's first win ever against the Sounders on Seattle's home turf.
