If Columbus wins on Wednesday, it'll have won the head-to-head competition for the seventh time in 10 tries. The final meeting of the Trillium Cup series takes place on May 26 in Toronto. This week’s midweek match will be the 30th all-time meeting between the Great Lakes rivals. Columbus currently holds an overall 13-6-10 record and a 9-3-4 record at MAPFRE Stadium over the Reds.
In the last matchup, Jozy Altidore — who now has a goal or an assist in six of his nine games this season — opened the scoring with a header in the 21st minute. A pair of goals by Kamara (37’) and midfielder Justin Meram (44’) sent the Reds home packing.
