PREVIEW: Crew SC hits road for Eastern Conference clash vs. the Revs

Just two short weeks ago, the Black & Gold welcomed the New England Revolution to MAPFRE Stadium in an eventual 2-0 victory on May 6. This time around, Crew SC travels to Gillette Stadium on Sunday, May 21, to face the Revs for their second and final matchup in the 2017 MLS regular season — a special 2:30 p.m. ET kickoff.

In this season’s first meeting between the two Eastern Conference clubs, the Black & Gold extended New England's losing streak after forward Ola Kamara (13’) and midfielder Federico Higuain (53’) both found the back of the net. Crew SC’s all-time regular-season record against the Revs is 34-22-12. The Black & Gold have won four of their last five matches against New England and have denied them a goal in three straight games.

New England is coming into Sunday’s match hot off a 4-0 victory in Week 11 against the Real Salt Lake, ending a five-game losing streak. All four goals came in the first half and from four different players, Scott Caldwell (4’), Kei Kamara (18’), Diego Fagundez (34’), and Lee Nguyen (41’). Columbus Crew SC is entering Week 12 confident after a Justin Meram hat trick that secured a 3-2 victory over the Montreal Impact last Saturday.
