The 2021 season is officially underway as Columbus Crew SC completed its first week of preseason training in Chula Vista, Calif., after landing out on the West Coast earlier this week.

Following Wednesday's first training session, Head Coach Caleb Porter addressed the team's initial progression plans through the first phase of preseason, and touched on what he told the team in his first address to a largely similar group to last year's MLS Cup champion roster, with the noted additions of a handful of players including Kevin Molino, Bradley Wright-Phillips, Perry Kitchen, Evan Bush, and Homegrown Player Isaiah Parente.

On Thursday, defender Jonathan Mensah spoke with ColumbusCrewSC.com about his mentality and approach heading into his fifth season with Columbus, and how he's looking forward to the challenges of a new year that include the opening of the New Crew Stadium and the OhioHealth Performance Center later this summer.

Fifth-year Crew midfielder Pedro Santos spoke on the team's performance last season as well as his individual form, which saw him net eight goals and eight assists, and how the team is trying to keep the same mindset this preseason as it has in years past.
