As an athlete there isn’t much more you want than the opportunity to play often, and that’s exactly what Columbus Crew SC will get as the Club’s first three-matches-in-eight-days stretch continues on Wednesday, April 24 at home against D.C. United.

Following last Saturday’s loss, the message from head coach Caleb Porter after training on Monday was simple: “These guys will be locked in and they will be ready.”

As the Crew (4-3-1, 13 pts.) look to bounce back in what will be their second home match in four days, Porter spoke on the team’s priorities in recovering.

“We’ve looked at their games. We have analyzed them. We will go over the scouting report tomorrow,” Porter said. “Today was mostly recovery for the guys that played. That is probably the most important thing, to make sure guys are mentally and physically recovered.”

In the spirit of rejuvenation, Porter also prescribed the team with some helpful insight.

“Tomorrow we will roll out the plan for DC. It will be a light session, then we are back in. The medicine for a loss is a win,” Porter said. “I know that these guys are going to be hungry to do that in the next couple of days.”

Wednesday’s showdown marks a re-match of the Crew’s 2018 MLS Cup Playoffs Eastern Conference Knockout Round match, which featured the Black & Gold advancing past D.C. in penalty kicks.

Additionally, Wednesday marks the first regular-season meeting between the two MLS originals, as well as the first time D.C. United has played at MAPFRE Stadium since signing Wayne Rooney last summer.

Promos for #CLBvDC include Pre-Match Happy Hour and Food Truck Discounts that last through halftime on the plaza, with kickoff set for 7:30 p.m. ET.
