Match Notes: Crew SC at New England Revolution

On Saturday, August 20, Columbus Crew SC travels to Foxborough, Mas­sachusetts to face the New England Revolution for the second time in the 2016 regular season at Gillette Stadium. Get prepared for the Eastern Conference contest with these match notes.

LAST REGULAR-SEASON MEETING
On Saturday, July 9, Ola Kamara scored his eighth goal of the 2016 regular season and Tony Tchani recorded the 20th assist of his MLS regular-season career, but New England emerged with a 3-1 victory at home.


CREW SC TO PLAY SECOND OF THREE 2016 REGULAR-SEASON CONTESTS AGAINST NEW ENGLAND
Crew SC heads to Gillette Stadium for the second time in the 2016 season to play New England in what is the second of three overall regular-season matches between the two clubs in this campaign. Columbus is 32-22-12 all-time against the Revolution in regular-season play, including a 14-14-6 mark in Foxborough. The Revs come to Central Ohio on September 25, 2016 to play at MAPFRE Stadium to close-out the 2016 regular-season series in a nationally televised match on FS1.


VIEWING PARTY AT THE THREE LEGGED MARE
For supporters in Columbus, Saturday's match at New England features a viewing party at The Three Legged Mare (401 N Front St #150, Columbus, OH 43215). The party begins one hour before kickoff at 6:30 p.m. ET and features $3 Budweiser pints for supporters 21-and-over. All Crew SC Season Ticket Members with their membership cards receive 15% off their total bill and $1 off all draft beers (21-and-over). Additionally, Crew SC Membership Specialists will be on-hand to assist supporters with questions regarding Memberships for the 2017 Major League Soccer season.


TRAPP NOTCHES FIRST ASSIST OF 2016 CAMPAIGN
Midfielder Wil Trapp was credited with a secondary assist on Justin Meram's goal last weekend against New York City FC. It was Trapp's first assist of the season and his first helper since October 25, 2015 against D.C. United.


KAMARA REMAINS LEAGUE'S LEADING GOAL-SCORER SINCE HIS FIRST TALLY
In scoring his 10th goal of the 2016 MLS regular-season on July 23 against Orlando City SC, Crew SC forward Ola Kamara is on a streak of scoring at least one goal in seven out of his last 11 appearances. His first Major League Soccer regular-season goal came as part of a hat trick on May 28, 2016 against Real Salt Lake. Since that date, Kamara continues to lead all of Major League Soccer in goals. The Norwegian is currently one ahead of Frank Lampard.


BLACK & GOLD LEAD MLS IN PASSING ACCURACY
According to Opta, Crew SC currently leads all of Major League Soccer in passing accuracy, having recorded an 82.38% completion rate through 22 regular-season matches. Columbus also ranks second in the League in completed passes per match, at 397.91, as well as in attempted passes, at 483.


CREW SC AMONG MLS' BEST IN CHANCES CREATED PER MATCH, POSSESSION
According to the League’s official statistician, Opta, Columbus Crew SC ranks third in MLS in chances created per match (10.45) and ranks second in possession (55.58%).


TCHANI TO SERVE ONE-MATCH YELLOW-CARD SUSPENSION
After receiving a yellow card last weekend against New York City FC, Columbus Crew SC midfielder Tony Tchani is set to serve a one-match suspension for yellow-card accumulation in this match. He will be eligible for selection in the Black & Gold's next contest, on August 24 against the Philadelphia Union.

Saturday's 7:30 p.m. ET start is available via regional television on The CW Columbus, Time Warner Cable SportsChannel and BCSN2. Neil Sika (play-by-play) and Dwight Burgess (analyst) are set to have the call of the match on Time Warner Cable SportsChannel and BCSN2, “Crew SC Matchday,” the exclusive pre-match show, starts at 7:00 p.m. ET with Chris Doran, and “Crew SC Post-Match” immediately follows the action only on TWCSC and BCSN2. The CW Columbus' broadcast begins at 7:30 p.m. ET. Locally, the contest is available via the radio in English on CD102.5 FM and in Spanish on La Mega 103.1 FM. The English radio broadcast also is set to stream live on ColumbusCrewSC.com.
