COLUMBUS – The Columbus Crew today announced that Columbus-based clothing brand HOMAGE has released a special Crew-centric merchandising capsule to complement its long line of eclectic apparel. This limited-edition product launch of Crew apparel includes 1,500 items – a tribute to the Black & Gold’s 15th year at its trailblazing home of Crew Stadium.
“The Crew is known for being a team of firsts, and this unique new partnership with MLS and HOMAGE is another seminal moment for our club,” said Columbus Crew Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing Mike Malo. “We’re very excited about the product line that HOMAGE has created, and we believe that Crew fans will be eager to get their hands on this limited-edition collector’s line that celebrates our 15th season at Crew Stadium.”
Available online at HOMAGE.com, in-store at HOMAGE’s retail locations at Easton Town Center and the Short North and at Crew Stadium’s merchandising stands, the clothing capsule is a unique spinoff agreement between Major League Soccer, the Columbus Crew and a local apparel company that could serve as a blueprint for similar partnerships in other MLS markets.
“HOMAGE is privileged to partner with Major League Soccer and the Columbus Crew on this first-of-its-kind, limited-edition clothing capsule commemorating the Crew's 15th season in iconic Crew Stadium,” said Nate Ellis, Director of Marketing at HOMAGE. “The opportunity to pay homage to one of Major League Soccer’s first clubs and the legacy of Lamar Hunt's Columbus Crew is a tremendous honor.”
“We are really excited about this new venture,” said Maribeth Towers, MLS Senior Vice President of Consumer Products. “We love what HOMAGE developed in terms of product. They did a great job of using their own voice when it came to working with the Columbus Crew brand. Throughout this season, a number of our clubs will be creating similar capsule collections with retailers in their respective markets. These are limited edition collections that our supporters have asked for. This is one way that we are able to say ‘thank you’ for being so supportive of our clubs.”
