JUSTIN MERAM: FAST FACTS
- During his first seven years with Crew SC, Justin Meram rose to join the club’s all-time leaders in several regular-season categories, including: third in game-winning goals (13); fifth in appearances (188); fifth in shots (321) and shots on goal (121); tied for 10th in starts (134); sixth in goals (37); and seventh in assists (33).
On Nov. 22, 2015, Meram scored the fastest goal in MLS postseason history against the New York Red Bulls in the first leg of the Eastern Conference Championship. The goal came when Kei Kamara redirected a deep ball to Meram, and he promptly put the ball in the back of the net just nine seconds into the match.
- Meram was named the 2016 Crew SC MVP of the Year. That season, Meram made 33 regular-season appearances (31 starts), scored five goals, and led the club with 13 assists.
- Meram is one of only six players to record a hat trick with the Black & Gold. His three-goal game came when he scored every Crew SC goal in a 3-2 road win over the Montreal Impact on May 13, 2017. In doing so, Meram joined Stern John, Ola Kamara, Brian Maisonneueve , Ross Paule, and Dante Washington as the only players in Crew SC history to record a hat trick.
- With his hat trick against the Montreal Impact last year, Meram also became one of only six players in Black & Gold history to register at least 30 goals and 30 assists. The other five players are Brian McBride, Jeff Cunningham, Guillermo Barros Schelotto, Federico Higuain and Ethan Finlay.
Crew SC returns to MAPFRE Stadium on Saturday, Aug. 11 against the Houston Dynamo with kickoff slated for 7:30 p.m. ET as part of Columbus Zoo Night.
