COLUMBUS – Columbus Crew forwards Cucho Hernández and Jacen Russell-Rowe have been selected to join their respective national teams for the current November FIFA International Window.
Hernández will join Colombia for a pair of CONMEBOL World Cup Qualifiers. Los Cafeteros host Brazil at Metropolitano Roberto Meléndez on Barranquilla, Colombia on Nov. 16 before traveling to face Paraguay at Defensores del Chaco in Asunción, Paraguay, on Nov. 21.
The 24-year-old has been capped three times for Colombia. He made his senior debut in a 2018 friendly against Costa Rica (October 17), scoring two goals in a 3-1 win, including the game-winning goal.
This season, Hernández paced the team and ranked fourth in MLS with 16 goals during the regular season while tying for the team lead with 11 assists. In postseason play, he scored three goals and added one assist as the Crew advance to the Eastern Conference Semifinal.
Russell-Rowe and Canada face Jamaica in a home-and-away pair of Concacaf Nations League matches. The first match will take place at Independence Park in Kingston, Jamaica, on Nov. 17 before the home leg at BMO Field in Toronto on Nov. 21.
The 21-year-old made his senior national team debut this summer in Canada’s Concacaf Gold Cup opener, entering in the second half of a 4-2 win over Cuba on July 4. He appeared in two additional games during the tournament.
In his first full season with the First Team, Russell-Rowe scored four goals and tallied three assists in 21 regular season matches.
On Sunday evening, the Crew defeated Atlanta United 4-2 for an overall 2-1 series victory in Round One of the Audi 2023 MLS Cup Playoffs. With the result, the Crew advance to face Orlando City SC in the Eastern Conference Semifinals at Exploria Stadium on Saturday, Nov. 25 at 5:30 p.m. ET.
