Black & Gold by the numbers: Finlay, Higuain score their fourth

Ethan score vs. Revolution

Columbus Crew SC paid a visit to the New England Revolution on Saturday night at Gillette Stadium in an Eastern Conference showdown, and left with all three points. A first-half goal by Ethan Finlay and a second-half strike by Federico Higuain stood as the difference as Crew SC maintained the shutout on the road.

Finlay followed up his pair of goals last week against New York City FC with an 8th minute tally on Saturday in Foxborough. It was his third goal in two games since returning to the starting line up on Aug. 13.

Both of Saturday's scorers are now tied for second on Crew SC's active 2016 roster with four goals scored. For Higuain, it was his first finish since his brace on May 7 against Montreal. Shortly after, Higuain underwent hernia repair and was out of action for six matches.

Saturday was the fifth shutout of the season for Crew SC's backline, and the 19th of goalkeeper Steve Clark's career in the Black & Gold. Defensively, Crew SC's back four stood stoically with a combined seven successful tackles out of eight and 22 successful clearances â€” none more pivotal than Michael Parkhurst's off the goal line in the 74th minute.
