STADIUM & SOCIAL DISTANCING

Q: Will there be limited capacity of fans at Columbus Crew home matches this year?

With health and well-being top of mind, the Columbus Crew will follow CDC social distancing guidelines and the guidance of state and local authorities.

Q: For limited capacity matches, what areas of the stadium will be affected by the capacity restrictions?

Capacity restrictions require a re-seat of the entire stadium for the scheduled match, including both general seating and premium areas of the stadium.  We will continue to work with MLS and health officials to provide appropriate distancing between fans and on-field personnel, which may require removing field seating and rows in the lower bowl.  Public access to certain sections and club spaces in the stadium may also be restricted for limited capacity matches.

Q: Will there be an opportunity to open more seats throughout the season if circumstances regarding COVID-19 improve?

Any future increase in capacity would depend on approvals from state and local authorities.  We will continue to keep our fans appropriately updated.

Q: For limited capacity matches, will I have to practice social distancing while at the stadium?

With the health and well-being of everyone in mind, we have worked with industry experts to develop a new seating chart that complies with government requirements. Fans will be required to comply with all government and stadium guidelines while attending Columbus Crew events.

Q: For limited capacity matches, are there dedicated Fully Vaccinated Sections?

For the Crew's home match on May 29, fully vaccinated individuals can purchase tickets in a Fully-Vaccinated Section of Historic Crew Stadium.

These sections are sold at 100% capacity and are located in Lower Sideline (Sections 109-112) and Upper Sideline (Sections 209-210). If interested in purchasing tickets in a Fully-Vaccinated Section, please review the full details/guidelines below to ensure that you will be granted entry to this section on matchday.

Fully Vaccinated Sections will be sold at 100% capacity and located in Lower Sideline (Sections 109-112) and Upper Sideline (Sections 209-210).

  • “Fully vaccinated” indicates the ticket holder received a second dose in a two-dose vaccine series (Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna) or the single dose of one-dose vaccine (Johnson and Johnson / Jansen) no later than Saturday, May 15.
  • ALL ticket holders (regardless of age) must show valid vaccination documentation before entering their section.
  • Valid documentation includes both vaccination card (or photo stored on phone or electronic device) and valid photo ID.
  • If a ticket holder is not fully vaccinated and selects a ticket in a fully vaccinated section, they will not be allowed to enter the section. If a ticket holder forwards or sells their tickets to a non-fully vaccinated individual, this non-vaccinated individual will not be allowed to enter the section. Refunds/Exchanges will not be available.
Q: What steps has the Columbus Crew taken to provide a responsible environment at home matches while the COVID-19 pandemic is ongoing?

Building on the critical work of local, state health officials and the CDC in the fight against COVID-19, the Columbus Crew collaborated with medical experts, industry leaders and the MLS to develop a responsible restart stadium plan for the 2020 MLS Season. The key elements of this plan (as may be updated by health authority and MLS requirements) will remain in place during the 2021 MLS Season until further notice. We will continue to communicate any updates to our plan as appropriate.

Q: What are the key principles that were considered in creating a responsible environment during the COVID-19 pandemic?

The following principles are the primary factors when developing the Columbus Crew’s responsible restart stadium plan to welcome spectators to Columbus Crew home matches during the global pandemic:

  • Minimum required physical distancing in-stadium to comply with government orders
  • Mandated face masks for all
  • Daily temperature screenings and symptom monitoring for all staff
  • Robust Cleaning and disinfecting protocols throughout the venue for all staff
  • Robust hygiene protocols for all fans and staff
  • Clear signage, wayfinding and posted education/protocol for all fans and staff
  • Regular review and adjustment to evolving circumstances
Q: What steps has the Columbus Crew taken to maintain an appropriate physical distance during the COVID-19 pandemic?

The following principles are the primary factors when developing the Columbus Crew’s responsible restart stadium plan to welcome spectators to Columbus Crew home matches during the global pandemic:

  • Distance markers
  • Physical barriers/partitions
  • Cones/tape for one-way traffic
  • Designated work areas
  • Closed common spaces unless distancing is assured
  • Adjusting hours/shifts
  • Signage
Q: Will face masks/coverings be mandatory?

For as long as required by local and state health authorities, face coverings will be required for all (including working staff and ticketholders) once inside the stadium. The only acceptable time to remove your mask is while you are actively eating and drinking at your designated seats.

Q: Do I need to bring my own hand sanitizer?

You may bring your own, but touchless hand sanitizer and other hygiene products will be available throughout the stadium during the pandemic.

Q: What should I expect when entering the stadium while the special pandemic protocols are in place?

Until further notice, the following protocols will be in place:

  • Queue lines will be enforced to maintain social distancing guidelines as required per the current government orders.
  • Patrons will be security screened and magnetometers will be appropriately spaced apart to comply with government orders
  • Your ticket will specifically identify which gate to enter (color/name/location).
Q: What happens if I go to the wrong gate while the special pandemic protocols are in place?

Your ticket will have your designated entry gate listed and can only be scanned at that location. There will be stadium personnel outside each gate to ensure you are at the correct gate entrance.

Q: My ticket reads that I’m in the gold zone, but my friends is in the black zone. What does this mean? Can we visit each other during the match while the special pandemic protocols are in place?

Stadium zoning is meant to reduce the number of patrons that are physically able to come into contact with one another during the COVID-19 public health crisis. Therefore, you will not be able to cross into a different zone while the special pandemic protocols are in place. Each zone includes designated entry points based on your seating section.

 Q: Will tailgating be allowed?

Q: How do I know where to park when I arrive?

Until further notice, all parking for Historic Crew Stadium matches will be in the General Lot.
