INTERNATIONAL RECAP | Four Crew players return from national team duty

Luis Diaz – Costa Rica U-23


Luis Diaz joined Costa Rica’s Under-23 side for the 2021 Concacaf Men's Olympic Qualifying Championship in Mexico. The midfielder started in all three matches, wearing the armband for Los Ticos. Despite losing to the U.S. and eventual tournament winners Mexico, Costa Rica defeated the Dominican Republic in the last group stage match. In the end, Los Ticos finished third in Group A.


Alexandru Matan – Romania U-21


New addition Alexandru Matan featured for Romania’s Under-21 team in all three Group Stage matches of the 2021 UEFA European Under-21 Championship. The midfielder started in all three matches helping the Romanian side to draws against the Netherlands and Germany, as well as a 2-1 victory against Hungary. Matan put in a man of the match performance against the Netherlands, as he scored Romania's initial goal before setting up Romania’s game-winning tally. Romania finished third in Group A.

Eloy Room – Curacao


Eloy Room started for Curacao in both of the team’s Concacaf 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. The Black & Gold goalkeeper maintained a clean sheet in a 5-0 home victory against Saint Vincent and the Grenadines before facing Cuba on the road, where he helped Curacao to a 2-1 win. With the result, Curacao sits atop Group A with six points, ahead of Guatemala (six points), Saint Vincent and the Grenadines (three points), Cuba (no points) and the British Virgin Islands (no points).


Milton Valenzuela – Argentina U-23


Milton Valenzuela earned his first call-up for the Argentina U-23 squad ahead of two friendlies against Japan in Japan. The defender featured for La Albiceleste in the first friendly, helping the Argentine side maintain a clean sheet en route to a 1-0 win over the Japanese squad. The contest was played at Ajinomoto Stadium in Tokyo.
