ARGUDO SCORES FIRST REGULAR-SEASON GOAL WITH CREW SC, NOTCHES ASSIST


Midfielder Luis Argudo scored his first regular-season goal with Crew SC in Saturday’s road contest against the New York Red Bulls. Argudo’s goal came in the 17th minute, when he connected on a header from Gyasi Zardes before sending the ball to the near post. Following his 17th minute goal, Luis Argudo recorded his second assist of the 2019 regular-season in Saturday's road match against the New York Red Bulls. Argudo’s assist came in the 46th minute when he passed the ball to Pedro Santos’ to put away. In 2019, Argudo has made 13 regular-season appearances (six starts), while scoring one goal and providing two assists. Since joining Crew SC ahead of the 2018 MLS season, Argudo has made 31 regular-season appearances (12 starts) while scoring one goal and providing two assists.


SANTOS REGISTERS FIRST BRACE WITH THE CREW


Midfielder Pedro Santos recorded his first brace for Crew SC in Saturday’s 3-2 road victory over the New York Red Bulls. Santos’ first goal came in the 46th minute after receiving a pass from Luis Argudo. The midfielder made it a brace in the 84th minute when he put away a deflection off of Red Bulls goalkeeper Luis Robles to score the game-winning goal. With his two strikes on Satur- day’s match, Santos has now scored seven goals in the 2019 regular season. Notably, Santos provided the game-winning assist in the Crew’s previous match, a 2-1 home win over the Montreal Impact. In 2019, Santos has made 23 regular-season appearances (21 starts), tallying three assists to go with his seven goals.


SANTOS NAMED TO MLSSOCCER.COM’S TEAM OF THE WEEK


Pedro Santos was named to MLSSoccer.com’s Team of the Week for Week 21 following his two-goal performance against the New York Red Bulls on Saturday. The midfielder scored Crew SC’s second and third goal – the game-winning goal – in the Club’s 3-2 road victory over the Red Bulls. This marks the second time that Santos has been named to MLSSoccer.com’s Team of the Week, as the Portuguese midfielder had been previously earned the honor during the Week 14 edition of Team of the Week. Santos is one of six Black & Gold players to be named to MLSSoccer.com’s Team of the Week in 2019, joining Gaston Sauro (Week 1, 3), Gyasi Zardes (Week 2), Zack Steffen (Week 3, 5, 6), Federico Higuain (Week 11) and David Accam (Week 20).


SANTOS AND ZARDES: 2019 CREW SC JOINT REGULAR-SEASON SCORING LEADERS


With his two goals in Saturday’s match, Santos brought his 2019 regular-season total to seven goals, which ties him with Gyasi Zardes as the joint 2019 regular-season scoring leader for Crew SC. Of Santos’ seven goals, three have been game-winning goals, with the midfielder also providing three assists. Meanwhile, Zardes has scored one game-winning goal while tallying two assists. Notably, both Santos and Zardes have registered a brace in regular-season action this year, with Zardes scoring two goals on the road against the New England Revolution (March 9) and Santos recording his brace on the road against the New York Red Bulls (July 27).


ZARDES REGISTERS ASSIST AGAINST THE NEW YORK RED BULLS


Gyasi Zardes provided an assist in Saturday’s road contest against the New York Red Bulls, setting up Crew SC’s first goal of the match. Zardes’ assist came in the 17th minute when he headed the ball to Luis Argudo after receiving a long ball from Alex Crognale. The forward’s assist marked his second assist for Crew SC since joining the Black & Gold ahead of the 2018 regular season. In 2019, Zardes has made 19 regular-season appearances (19 starts) while registering seven goals and two assists.


CROGNALE RECORDS FIRST ASSIST OF 2019


Alex Crognale tallied a secondary assist for Crew SC in Saturday’s 3-2 victory over the New York Red Bulls. Crognale’s helper came in the 17th minute, when he passed the ball to Gyasi Zardes, who headed it for Luis Argudo to put away. The assist was Crognale’s first assist of the 2019 regular-season, as well as his second regular-season assist since joining Crew SC ahead of the 2017 MLS season. In 2019, Crognale has made seven regular-season appearances (five starts), registering one assist.


HECTOR JIMENEZ TALLIES ASSIST AGAINST THE NEW YORK RED BULLS


Hector Jimenez recorded a secondary assist for Crew SC in Satur- day’s road match against the New York Red Bulls. Jimenez’s helper came in the 46th minute, when he passed the ball to Luis Argudo, who found Pedro Santos for the goal. The assist marked Jimenez’s second assist in as many games for the Black & Gold, as he had previously provided an assist in a home contest against the Montreal Impact (July 27). In 2019, Jimenez has made 22 regular-season appearances (18 starts), scoring one goal and registering four assists. Notably, Jimenez only needs one more regular-season assist to equal his single-season career-high of five assists during the 2014 regular season. In all, Jimenez has made 124 regular-season appearances (109 starts), scoring two goals and 18 assists for the Black & Gold.


KEITA STARTS IN 2019 MLS HOMEGROWN GAME


Defender Aboubacar Keita started for MLS in the 2019 MLS Homegrown Game against Chivas de Guadalajara's Under-20 Team. Keita, 19, played 45 minutes, en route to helping his team earn a 2-2 draw against Chivas, before the MLS team won 3-0 in a penalty shootout. Keita, a Crew SC Academy product, joined Crew SC as a Homegrown Player ahead of the 2019 MLS season and has made five regular-season appearances (four starts) for the Club. Notably, the defender made five appearances (all starts) for the U.S. Under-20 Men's National Team during the 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup, helping the U.S. reach the quarterfinals.
