CREW SC FACES ATLANTA UNITED IN 2019 LAMAR HUNT U.S. OPEN CUP ROUND OF 16 MATCH
By virtue of its 1-0 victory over Pittsburgh RIverhounds SC – and following Thursday’s Round of 16 draw – Crew SC is slated to face Atlanta United in Tuesday’s 2019 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Round of 16 Match. The contest, which will be played at MAPFRE Stadium, marks the first time the Crew faces Atlanta United in the U.S. Open Cup. The Black & Gold defeated Atlanta United 2-0 in a regular-season home contest earlier this year (March 30).
ACCAM SCORES FIRST GOAL WITH CREW SC
Midfielder David Accam registered his first goal since joining the Black & Gold during last week’s 2019 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Fourth Round match against Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC (June 11). Accam’s goal came in the 55th minute after receiving a ball over the top from Pedro Santos. In 2019, Accam has made four regular-season appearances (three starts) for the Black & Gold, providing one assist.
SANTOS PROVIDES GAME-WINNING ASSIST AGAINST PITTS- BURGH RIVERHOUNDS SC
Pedro Santos recorded an assist during last week’s 2019 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Fourth Round match against Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC (June 11). Santos found David Accam in the 55th minute with a long ball over the top. With his helper against the Riverhounds, Santos has now scored a goal or provided an assist in each of his last three matches across all competitions for Crew SC.
KEMPIN REGISTERS FIRST SHUTOUT WITH CREW SC
Jon Kempin recorded his first shutout for the Black & Gold in last week’s 2019 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Fourth Round victory over Pittsburgh Riverhound SC (June 11). The goalkeeper made one save against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds en route to helping the Crew win 1-0. Kempin joins Crew SC ahead the 2018 season and has made six regular-season appearances (all starts) to date.
CROGNALE MAKES 2019 DEBUT FOR CREW SC
Defender Alex Crognale made his first appearance (and first start) of 2019 across all competitions for Crew SC in last week’s 2019 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Fourth Round match against River- hounds SC (June 11). Crognale played 90 minutes, registering one tackle, completing 75 passes and finished with a passing percentage of 89.3. Since joining Columbus Crew SC ahead of the 2017 regular-season, Crognale has made 22 appearances (12 starts) in regular-season action.
