Columbus Crew SC Sporting Director & Head Coach Gregg Berhalter has been nominated for Major League Soccer's Coach of the Year Award alongside 16 fellow MLS coaches.
Berhalter joined Crew SC in 2013, becoming the seventh Head Coach and first Sporting Director for Columbus. Under Berhalter, Crew SC has reached the playoffs in three seasons (2014, 2015, 2017), advancing to the MLS Cup once (2015). Columbus is currently 13-11-9 in the 2018 regular season with Berhalter.
In his first year with the club, Berhalter posted a 14-10-10 record, becoming a finalist for MLS’s Coach of the Year award. In 2017, Berhalter led Crew SC to a club record 13 home regular-season wins, which surpassed the previous record of 11.
Players, technical staffers (technical directors, GMs, and coaches) and a select group of national and regional media began the voting process on Monday, Oct. 15, and the award finalists will be announced on Oct. 31.
