POST-MATCH QUOTES | #SJvCLB

Generic balls

SPORTING DIRECTOR & HEAD COACH GREGG BERHALTER

Overall thoughts on the game:

“I think there was some decent play by us, but overall, we're not pleased with [Crew SC's performance] on both sides of the ball, both offensively and defensively. Not being resolute enough, not making enough plays on both sides of the ball, and I think we had opportunities and we didn't take advantage of it and that's too bad.”

On Crew SC forward Adam Jahn's performance:

“I'm happy for Adam. It was a long time coming this season for him to score a goal. He's a guy that can score and we believe it and happy that he got the opportunity to put the ball in the back of the net today.”

On Crew SC's next match against Chicago Fire:

“Well, you know what I say is that every game in MLS is difficult and you never can predict the score of the game and because of that you have to take every game as the hardest game of the season.”

On the team's performance compared to other road matches:

“I wasn't happy with this game. I'm not going to mince words. I think it was not a good performance by us. Again, the opportunities that we had and then the defensive plays that we did not come up with overall means it wasn't a good game for us. And there was some good play, good movement, good opportunities and we just didn't come up with the plays and that's disappointing.”

MIDFIELDER JUSTIN MERAM

On what to tell younger players after a loss:

“Just keep battling. This is a game of inches. We had chances we don't put away. They had small chances, they put them away. That's the difference.”

On returning to MAPFRE Stadium for the team's next match:

“Yeah, and we're playing against a tough Chicago team then we're back on the road. Ten games left, we need points. We're going to struggle.”

FORWARD ADAM JAHN

On returning to San Jose:

“It was great to come back to where I spent almost four years. I saw a lot of old friends and it's just a good experience. It's good to spend a few days here.”

On scoring his first goal of the season against his former club:

“It was great. It's always good to score. I wish we had gotten a result, but I was happy about that.”

On looking forward to returning to MAPFRE Stadium next week:

“Absolutely. This is a must-win, I feel. We need to get back into winning ways so we're focused on that already.”
