Kelvin Jones — UPSL Head Coach, Crew 2 Assistant Coach, and Assistant Director of Player Development

Kelvin Jones is currently the UPSL Head Coach, Crew 2 Assistant Coach, and Assistant Director of Player Development for the Columbus Crew. Kelvin joined the club in 2018 and served as the Academy Director until 2023 when he transitioned into his new roles and back to his original passion of coaching.  Before joining the Crew, Kelvin served as Director of Coaching for Virginia Legacy Soccer Club in Williamsburg, VA, from April 2013 until 2017. Kelvin played professionally for the USL’s Richmond Kickers and Charleston Battery. He also competed with the D.C. United Reserves and served as both a player and GM/Head Coach/Owner of the Premier Arena Soccer League’s Fredericksburg Generals. Prior to his professional days, Kelvin was a standout defender at Wake Forest University, appearing in over 60 matches during his 4-year career. Jones led the Demon Deacons to 3 straight NCAA Tournament Appearances before graduating with a degree in Health and Exercise Science. Kelvin holds numerous coaching certifications including a USSF A License, NSCAA Director of Coaching Diploma, USSF National Youth License, and his Elite Formation Coaching License (EFCL), a partnership between MLS and the French Football Federation for elite MLS Academy coaches. Kelvin and his wife Kristine live with their two sons, Kieran and Braddock, in Canal Winchester.
