Dan Lock — Academy Director
Dan Lock serves as Academy Director for the Columbus Crew, overseeing Crew 2 and the Academy.
Dan Lock joined the Crew in 2022 as the Head of Individual Development and Coaching, before becoming Academy Director in July 2023. During his time at the club, highlights have included being part of the Crew 2 coaching staff as the team won the inaugural MLS Next Pro Championship in 2022 and the club being awarded the 2023 MLS Academy of the Year.
Prior to joining the Crew, Lock served as Academy Manager and U17 Head Coach at Charlotte FC from 2020 to 2022. He was responsible launching and leading the Charlotte FC Academy from its inaugural year in 2020.
Before his time with Charlotte FC, Lock coached for Seattle Sounders FC Academy from 2016-2020. During his time at Sounders FC, he held several positions including the U-15 Head Coach, U17 Assistant Coach and U14-U13 Coach. Whilst on the coaching staff at Sounders FC, the Academy graduated numerous players to homegrown status with the 1st team and won several prestigious titles including the U17 USDA National Championship; U15 and U17 USDA West Division titles; the 2018 U17 Generation Adidas Cup Premier Division, and the 2019 U17 Generation Adidas Cup Championship Division.
Lock holds a USSF A License; French Federation (FFF) Elite Formation Coaching License, BSc Degree in Sports Science & Sport Development and the USSF Coach Educator License and is also a Coach Educator for US Soccer Federation, educating on the USSF A-Youth Licenses.
